RENT, Wash. – Doug Baldwin, the Seahawks' No. 1 catcher, trained for the first time since an injury to MCL in the first game of the season against Denver.

"He is our leader [and] Obviously, an extraordinary player, so every time we can bring him on the field, it's great, "said Jaron Brown, a Seahawks receiver.

"He looks really good and light and he looks very confident to be able to play this week, so we'll see how it goes," said Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

Baldwin is convinced that he can play against the cardinals, but he has not yet trained at full speed.

"It's a frustrating process for him and he's dying to go back there," Carroll said.

Brown played for the Cardinals last season when Russell Wilson found Baldwin for that 54-yard win that allowed Seattle's final touchdown. Brown still remembers the great moment in Glendale, Arizona.

"Yeah, I was heartbroken, to be honest with you when it happened," Brown said with a smile. "But these are the kinds of games these guys do every day."

For his part, six-time Pro Bowler Earl Thomas was at the VMAC Wednesday but did not practice with the team. After Thomas missed a few practices last week, Carroll said he and Thomas were going forward in a very positive way.

"He's a player and that's what he does," said Bobby Wagner, a linebacker for the Seahawks. "In the end, it will be a lot of things that will happen during the week – to put that aside and go out and play – that's what Earl does."
