Doug Marrone has been waiting for four years to stick to the jets

The Jaguars defeated the Jets 31-12 on Sunday, and that was about as biased as an NFL game. Jacksonville almost tripled New York a few yards from the scrum and nearly doubled his possession time. But that was not enough for Jags head coach Doug Marrone, who sent his team off for two goals instead of tapping into a PAT in a 19-point game with 25 seconds to go.

The two-point attempt, a Blake Bortles pass for Dede Westbrook, failed and the margin of victory remained at 19. (In the following possession, the Jets knelt in a functional way, running the balloon once and letting the stopwatch expire.) But go for two in the first place? Bortles did not get an answer, telling reporters, "I just worked here."

Doug?

"We had a lot of guys who hit for the PAT / field goal [team]and on the graph, he just said 19 [points]. On the graph, it says two. I'm one of those guys, I never try to take anything for granted in an NFL game. Try to keep these mechanics running, so go for two.

So, that's obviously bullshit. The graph can show two points when you are up 19 points, but the graph also shows TWhen I count three scores with 19 seconds! Unless you have beef.

Marrone does have beef with the Jets.

"He does not like these guys," DT Malik Jackson told reporters after the match. "I do not know what they did to him, but he does not like them."

I guessed it. After the 2014 season, Marrone chose not to sign his contract with the Bills, which included a bizarre clause guaranteeing Buffalo $ 4 million in 2015, even though he was coaching another team. Marrone interviewed for the vacant Jets head coach position. It was a complicated process, with the Daily News the publication of an article on the day of the interview citing Bills sources claiming that "the layout of the coaches had discouraged people at all levels of the organization for two years" and that Marrone was "Too thin to overcome the critics" of Buffalo media. Three days later, jets Sources began to sink, telling the newspaper and other media that Marrone had not impressed the Jets during his interview. Marrone had been the favorite of the Jets, but they hired Todd Bowles instead, Marrone was appointed assistant in Jacksonville and the rest is history. Bitter, bubbling and complicated history.

"We are not good enough to send a message now," insisted Marrone, and no one believed it. Certainly nobody on the Jets.

"I think it's really disrespectful," said defensive lineman Leonard Williams. "The game is already over. They already have the game in the bag. All they could have done, is to start the clock at that time. At the same time, I think it's up to us to win this respect from other teams. If the teams disrespect us, we have to say something about ourselves. I took it really personal. And I did not like it at all. "

"That's exactly what they wanted to do," added linebacker Jordan Jenkins. "Whether it's a statement or not, we'll never know it, but we will not forget."
