Downtown NH shoppers for Saturday in the small business

The downtown areas across New Hampshire were full of people who were looking to shop locally on Saturdays in Small Business.

In Manchester, Mayor Joyce Craig and officials from Intown Manchester and the Chamber of Commerce opened their doors at The Bookery, a store that opened in May.

"We are a brand new company. It's great to have the support of the community, "said Elizabeth Cipriano, Store Manager.

Craig said, "It's really important that we support our local businesses here in our downtown core. That's really what makes our city vibrant. "

In downtown Concord, several companies also organized special events and special offers for the day.

Fifty Home, which carries products made in all 50 states, has offered gift wrap. And the owners said that the store is proof that the money spent in small businesses is directly reinvested in the community.

"Back in the country too," said co-owner Jim Clark. "This store specializes only in products made in the United States."

In recent years, improvements have been made in downtown Concord, particularly to benefit small businesses. But Clark said parking changes were starting to have a negative effect.

"I understand that this is a major source of income," he said. "Many customers told us that they came only on Sunday because of parking."

But this Saturday, small businesses were booming in downtown Concord and Manchester.

"My eldest daughter and I started last year and we really enjoyed it. We're as if it's a new tradition: we'll be organizing every Saturday of the small business, "said Maribel King of Manchester.
