Dozens of New England Papa Gino's rentals abruptly shut down

Massachusetts-based pizza franchise Gino's Daddy abruptly closed dozens of blinds across New England on Sunday.

Dozens of tweets reported Papa Gino's rentals across the region closed Sunday.

Reports from workers have been shuttered by the company.

The company, which previously boasted approximately 150 stores across New England, only 97 locations on its website Sunday.

A sign posted on the company's Needham Street rental said, "This location is now closed, thank you for your patronage."

A sign posted on Papa Gino 's Newton rental informs customers the rental has closed. Customers across New England reported a number of rentals were also closed Sunday.

"I showed up for my shift," said Kesley Sullivan, who worked at the Mansfield rental said. "I was told to reapply to other locations."

A full list of store closings was not immediately available. The company recommends customers check its website "to view open locations."

The company, now based in Dedham, was founded in 1961 when the chain opened its first pizzeria, called Piece O 'Pizza, in East Boston.

In 1968, the company changed the name to Papa Gino's and started to expand throughout Boston.

Papa Gino's Inc. is the parent company of Papa Gino's and D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches.
