STANFORD, Calif. – Golden State Warriors striker Draymond Green is set to play in Friday night's playoff final against the Los Angeles Lakers after missing nearly two weeks due to a painful left knee.
"Draymond is getting better and he's training today," said Warrior head coach Steve Kerr at the conclusion of Thursday's training. "We had a brief training, we did not make contact, but he's better and he feels good. [Friday]. "
Green played 20 minutes in the Warriors' pre-season game on Sept. 29 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but has not played since after having a knee MRI. Kerr is pleased that the defensive pillar is back on the pitch before the opening match of the regular season on Tuesday against the Thunder Oklahoma City.
"I may be tinkering a bit, but it will be good to bring back Draymond," Kerr said of his team's rotations. "Because with him … the last three games without him, that has created interesting combinations, which has allowed us to take a longer look at the guys." But some of the combinations have Draymond has a way of linking things together there. "
Kerr said Green would be on a minute restriction against the Lakers.
"We will not throw it out before 30 minutes," said Kerr. "It will surely be shorter bursts."
