Filled with nearly 3 million items, the museum was founded in 1852 and bears the names of Will's royal ancestors, Queen Victoria, who was then on the throne, and her husband, Prince Albert.

The new exhibition is inspired by the museum's collection of more than 800,000 photographs and presents contemporary photography alongside pioneering prints of ancient photographic stars such as William Henry Fox Talbot, Julia Margaret Cameron and Roger Fenton.

Kate visited the exhibition, met the conservatives and unveiled a plaque commemorating the inauguration of the center, which will double the space devoted to photography in the museum. Copies, negatives, photographic material, photographic publications and original documents will be on display to tell the story of international photography.

The visit to the V & A was Kate's second commitment this week; On Tuesday, she and Will attended the first Global Ministerial Summit on Mental Health to discuss how to improve mental health care for all, another major charitable goal of the Royal Youth Foundation.

For this commitment, Kate has recycled an endearing Emilia Wickstead luscious lilac dress that she wore during the Cambridge family's benevolent tour in Poland and Germany last summer.
