Dunkin 'Donuts will no longer be' Donuts', as the company plans to give up the sweet treats of its name in January. The coffee chain will still be serving donuts on its menu, but is renowned for its coffee and other beverages, the Associated Press reported.
The 68-year-old company started testing the name change last year with a store in Pasadena, California. He also opened a "Dunkin" store near Boston Common last December. The headquarters of the chain is just outside Boston, in Canton, Ma.
The Boston Magazine reported last year the name change of Dunkin 'Donuts, calling it an "identity crisis" that could only be described as "a disyllabic horror".
The name change reports suggest that the company wants its customers to treat it like another coffee, which is why it has kept the Dunkin 'and abandoned the Donuts. But Boston Magazine's writer, Spencer Buell, posed an important question last year: "Has anyone ever dipped his donuts?" And: what the hell? "
The company also cut 10% of its menu at the beginning of the year as customers bid farewell to smoothies, Big N 'Toasted, ham and cheddar, among others.
Dunkin 'says she hopes to seduce young customers with her new name, which will always use the classic orange and pink colors.
Has the Millennium also killed Dunkin 'Donuts?
