In the hope of maintaining momentum with branding and new products, Dunkin & Donuts has just raised the president of his US division, a former McDonald's executive, as new CEO

Dunkin's Brands Group, the parent company of the chain Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin ice cream & # 39; Donuts, David Hoffman, 50, will succeed Nigel Travis, 68, who has held this position since January 2009 and will retire.

Hoffman will remain president of Dunkin & # 39; Donuts. United States He has held this position since he joined the company in October 2016, said the Canton-based chain. Hoffman spent 22 years at McDonald's before joining Dunkin's, rising through the ranks of the hamburger chain until becoming vice president of strategy and franchise in Japan in 2008.

Dunkin & # 39; 39; Brands also said outgoing CEO, Travis, was appointed executive chairman of the board of directors.

Under the direction of Travis, the channel has experienced its brand image. In August 2017, the company opened a new site in Pasadena, California called "Dunkin" – removing the "Donuts" from its name while continuing to sell the item.

The channel said it was a test, as it wanted people to think of its stores as a destination for coffee. This move happened at the same time that a competitor from Dunkin's Brands, McDonald's, was introducing new McCafe beverages to compete with Starbucks and capture a portion of the coffee market.

Besides coffee, Dunkin & # 39; Donuts is also focused on renovating other products. In December 2017, the chain teamed up with Wormtown Brewery in Worcester, Mass. To launch a limited edition beer to celebrate the winter solstice. In January of this year, the company announced that it was going to eliminate artificial dyes from its donuts and replace them with fruit juices and other extracts. And more recently, last month, Dunkin's Donuts introduced Donut Fries to its nationwide stores.
