WASHINGTON – Dwight Howard missed the opening game of the Washington Wizards season Thursday night with what the team described as a buttock injury.
The new departure center in Washington missed all the training camp and the entire program of the exhibitions. He did not participate in any practice until Monday.
Coach Scott Brooks said, before wizards are hosting the Miami Heat, Ian Mahinmi would replace Howard in the lineup of the first game.
"It's getting closer," Brooks said about Howard, who missed no match due to an injury last season with the Charlotte Hornets.
The center played 81 games out of 82 with Charlotte. One was missing because of suspension.
Thursday, Howard went to court before the match and was shot.
