A case of sexual assault against the actor Dylan McDermott was dismissed by the Los Angeles attorney, the statute of limitations having been exceeded.
The actor, who is currently in American Horror Story, was charged with assaulting someone in 1991, but the case was reported too late, no further action was taken.
The assessment of the charges announcing the decision of the development authorities stated: "The allegation is outside the limitation period, so an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted and the prosecution is dismissed."
A representative from McDermott said, "Mr. McDermott learned these allegations last year and hoped the process would end exactly as he did. "
The allegations against McDermott did not appear until the publication of the charge sheet, which is a public document in Los Angeles.
In recent weeks, the DA's office has launched a number of large-scale assault cases involving Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and producer Anthony Anderson for the same reason.
A statute of limitations is a period of time after an incident where someone can be charged with a crime. Once this expires, they can no longer be prosecuted.
Dylan is back on our screens next week under the title American Horror Story: Apocalypse Begins in the United States.
He will be back in the role of Ben Harmon from the first season of the anthology series Murder House.
