E.J. Liddell Selects the Ohio State Missouri, Illinois

ESPN before E.J. Liddell announced Monday his engagement in the state of Ohio.

Liddell chose the Buckeyes over Missouri and Illinois.

The 6-foot-7 Belleville West (Illinois) product was considered Ohio State-oriented at the end of the summer, but visited its three finalists.

Occasionally, over the past month, Illinois and Missouri seemed to have an advantage over Liddell's commitment. But coach Chris Holtmann and the Buckeyes convinced him with their long and consistent pursuit.

Ranked # 44 out of 100 ESPN, Liddell is a productive and physical striker who prefers to do the essentials of his work around the basket. He scored 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds on average for Brad Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit last spring and summer, while blocking nearly 2 shots per game.

Liddell is the third ESPN 100 commitment for the state of Ohio in the 2019 category. He joins five-star point guard DJ Carton (# 24) and the four-star wing Alonzo Gaffney (# 29) make Buckeyes the only program in the country with three of the top 50 hopes already committed. OSU is still part of the group of 50 largest centers, Omar Payne, and an official visit is scheduled for this weekend.
