Eagles' Corey Clement: Confirmed to play Thursday

[ad_1]

Coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Clément would play Thursday against the Giants, reports Eagles official Graham Foley website. It is expected that Clement will benefit more and more snapshots with Jay Ajayi (knee) absent for the season.

Clement had not seen the pitch in Eagles' last two games while he had been injured in the quads, but he proved his health by performing full training on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanks to the versatility that he offers as a runner between tackles and goaltender, Clement should be on standby for an improved workload without Ajayi, although his compatriot Wendell Smallwood will also benefit. It's possible that Smallwood will eventually start and take more shots of Week 6 while Clement returns from an injury soon after, but Clément may represent the best long-term fantastic option given that he is still ranked at the top of the depth chart. Darren Sproles (hamstring) will also be taken into account when he returns to the game, perhaps as early as the 7th week against the Panthers.
