Earl Thomas of the Seahawks gives the middle finger to his own line of sight after a leg injury | NFL

Seahawks' safety Earl Thomas, the last member of Seattle's Legion of Boom, was injured in the leg Sunday in the Seattle game.

While he was being taken to the locker room, the cameras caught Thomas giving the bird to someone. Although the specific recipient remains unknown, he has clearly diverted his own sideline.

So why did Thomas greet his sideline salvation on one finger? The reason seems simple enough.

Thomas, who will be a free agent after this season, has long been asking the Seahawks to give him the lucrative contract he seeks or trades. Seattle did neither one nor the other.

Instead of taking the road to Le'Veon Bell, the 29-year-old has chosen to play, and he could now find himself in a difficult situation at the bargaining table if his injury is serious. This is of course why players in contract years choose to resist.

There may be another reason for this move, but the logic shows the frustration with the Seahawks brewers being the cause. And if that is the case, we can not say that we reproach him.
