According to a new study on tectonic plate transfer, take three times more water than expected.

The researchers studied the data received by the network of seismic sensors located around the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean. The deepest part of the depression takes more than 11 kilometers below sea level. Chen Kai from Washington University in St. Louis has been able to track the speed at which earthquakes are spreading through the earth's crust. According to the scientist, slowness would indicate cracks filled with water in the rocks and "hydrated" minerals hold water in their crystals.

The researchers observed such a slowdown deep in the earth's crust about 30 kilometers below the surface. Using the known velocity, temperature, and pressure measurements at this depth, the team calculated that the area where the tectonic plates collide "absorbs" three billion water teragrams in the cortex once per million d years (teragrams – one billion kilograms).

The new discovery puts scientists before certain questions. The water flowing under the bark should go back to most volcanic eruptions. New estimates of decreasing water quantity exceed calculations of the number of substances released by volcanoes. As a result, scientists have forgotten something in their models. Researchers believe that in the oceans, water is insufficient. In other words, the volume of water to suck in the crust and spill out should be about the same. The fact that there is a discrepancy in the calculations indicates that scientists do not really understand how water moves in the interior of the planet.

As reported by "Around the world. Ukraine ", in a giant snowball, Earth has reversed the movement of tectonic plates.
