Elementary school teachers from Idaho disguised as border wall MAGA for Halloween

That's exactly what a group of staff members discovered at a primary school in Middleton, Idaho.

Images, which have been posted on the Middleton School District Facebook page but have since been deleted, show the group disguised as a wall with the phrase "Make America Great Again". Another group in a second image was dressed in sombreros, wearing maracas and wearing false black mustaches, which some parents called racist.

Another photo of the school's Facebook page, now removed, showed staff dressed in sombreros with maracas.
The images have now been replaced by an excuse video by District Superintendent Josh Middleton, who called the costumes "obviously insensitive and inappropriate".

"We are better than that, we embrace all students who are responsible for teaching and touching all students," he said.

There was probably no malicious intent, he said, just a bad judgment – adding that the district would conduct an investigation.

"We must now have these decisions," he said. "I would just like to share again what is happening and express my deepest and most sincere apologies to our families, our clients."

Beth Almanza, an immigrant rights advocate from the Idaho DACA student group called the photos "extremely disheartening" and "heartbreaking".

"Imagine what some students felt when they entered their classrooms on Halloween and saw their teachers (people they admire) dressed like that?" she posted. "Students deserve better."
According to data compiled by Idaho Ed Trends, nearly 13% of the school population is Hispanic.
