Elephants charge hunters after slaughtering and killing a herd member in Namibia

It was at this point that the roles turned to two hunters, who found themselves attacked by a herd of elephants after shooting down one of the bulls.

The video shows two men armed with rifles trying to sneak into the herd of elephants in Namibia.

They are seen aiming at a distance the herd of elephants, one saying to the other "the striking between the eyes".

They both shoot and seem to touch one of the herd's bulls, causing him to stumble while other elephants panic, reports the Daily Mail.

However, within seconds, men are forced to fight for safety while the herd of elephants turns against them and a big bull attacks them.

The incident occurred at the Nakabolelwa Reserve in northeastern Namibia, and has recently surfaced online.

"There is a small quota of elephants in the area and we only hunt two elephants a year," said Corne Kruger, a professional hunter based in Namibia, at News24.

Kruger told the news site that the video had been filmed three or four years ago and pointed out that the bull's shooting had been completely "legal and durable".

Several companies in Namibia offer hunting safaris to visiting foreign tourists.

The season starts in March and ends at the end of October. Although foreign nationals do not require a license, a professional hunter accompanies all big game hunts.

A legal authorization to hunt any animal is required, otherwise it becomes poaching, which is a serious problem, especially for the conservation of certain species such as elephants, lions and rhinos.
