After the transaction with Eli Apple, NFL teams have the feeling that the New York Giants are "open to the business world" in the run-up to October 30th, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
"Hearing the Eli Apple trade may be just the tip of the iceberg," Canfora tweeted shortly after the transaction. "Strong perception of other teams [that] giants are "open to the business world" before next week's trade deadline.
Early Tuesday, the team agreed to swap Apple against the New Orleans Saints for a fourth-round pick in 2019 and a seventh-round pick in 2020, per game. Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Giants fall to 1-6
The trade comes a few hours after New York was in front of the Atlanta Falcons, Monday night, 23-20.
For the first time this season, running back Saquon Barkley failed to accumulate 100 yards of melee winnings, scoring only 43 passes in 14 races and 51 more in the air, with nine catches.
The team scored two touchdowns and converted two points in the last three minutes to bring the Atlanta advance to three, but this second mark came five seconds from the end. Falcon's great prospect Julio Jones picked up the free kick.
"We were in it. That's all we can do as a defense, "said Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, according to the New York Daily News," play defense. "Get three and outs, and just keep playing football. "
Matt Ryan hit New York for 379 yards passing, converting 31 times out of 39 attempts.
"All we have to do is keep playing football and everything will be fine," added Jenkins. "The team we have, everyone loves to fight and work hard in practice. We must understand that it is difficult to win in this league. And once we get over that bump, I think we'll start.
The team has talented but expensive players in the skillful positions at Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley, but the offensive line has been miserable for years and Eli Manning does not feel that the player who led the team has two wins at the Super Bowl for quite some time now. They also won a lot of money in defense, including Jenkins and defenseman Olivier Vernon.
"I do not feel like a 1-6 team," Beckham Jr. said after the defeat, according to the Daily News. "It's our balance sheet, but it's not what we feel in the locker room. It's not what you feel when you go out on the field.
"It's the reality, but it's just not the feeling."
Eli Manning Trade coming soon?
Matt Hasselbeck of the "Sunday NFL Countdown" recently suggested that the troubled team yielded his quarterback to the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving him another chance to play in the playoffs and helping the Giants recover.
"I'll make a solid Eli Manning. I would trade it to Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville has a team and they run, "said Hasselbeck during the show Sunday.
"It ends up finishing for everyone. Eli Manning will always be a giant. There will be a statue on the outside of the stadium for him. I think this has to end once in a while, so why not go out right now?
Tom Coughlin, who coached the Manning Giants in both Super Bowl wins, is now Executive Vice President of Jaguar Football Operations.
"Giants have all kinds of problems. I'm just saying that Tom Coughlin loves Eli Manning, "added Hasselbeck.
On Monday, Chris Mortensen reported that Jacksonville was not interested in trading Manning.
Other promising teams in the playoffs include the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans. Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill suffers from a shoulder injury and Tennessee's Marcus Mariota has struggled so far, one year after making more interceptions than touchdowns in 2017.
