Elon Musk presents a video of the Boring Company crossing the other end of the first tunnel

It seems that Elon Musk's Boring Company is about to complete its first tunnel, with the CEO posting a video of their boring machine crossing the other end of the tunnel under Los Angeles.

At this point, the startup has several projects underway in Los Angeles and in other parts of the country, such as Chicago and Maryland.

The company said it hoped that its first full demonstration of the system would consist of a new short tunnel and a "loop" to get to the Dodger stadium in 4 minutes.

But they have another demonstration tunnel under Hawthorne.

It begins in a parking lot on Crenshaw Boulevard, on the other side of the SpaceX headquarters, and the tunnel follows 120th Street.

When we visited the tunnel this summer, it was about 3/4 of a mile long. The company talked about going one kilometer long.

Last month, Musk announced plans to complete the tunnel by Dec. 10 for a launch event.

Before the launch, he announced today that the drill had pierced the other side of the tunnel:

The boring machine can only advance when it is rubbing against the ground and is constantly pushing against the walls of the tunnel which are gradually installed behind it.

Now, the head has crossed the other end of the tunnel.

Musk has cleverly called "advanced technology":

The CEO announced that he was building a watchtower at the exit of the tunnel with earth bricks extracted from the tunnel.

Before the launch next month, they will install their electric skate system to move people in the tunnel.

Musk said that 155 mph (250 km / h) would be the maximum speed in the test tunnel.

Earlier this year, they released a video of a Tesla Model X accelerating on rails inside the tunnel.

The CEO also said Tesla would build the "modules" for Boring's loop system, such as the ones they plan to deploy in the tunnels under Los Angeles, as well as for the "Dugout Loop" at the Dodger Stadium. and that between Chicago Airport and downtown Chicago.

This new tunnel will serve as the first proof of concept for the electric transport system, in addition to what the company had already learned about the boring technology when digging the tunnel.
