Elon Musk: Tesla could make an electric bike

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said Friday in an interview with Recode that Tesla could make an electric bike.

"I think we could do an electric bike, yes," said Musk.

In the coming years, the Tesla product line will extend beyond sedans and electric SUVs to include a truck and a semi-trailer truck, called Semi. The automaker also plans to manufacture the Model Y crossover SUV and a new version of its Roadster sports car.

"I think we have the most exciting product roadmap of any company in the world," Musk told Recode.

Among Tesla's upcoming products, Musk said he was most excited about the van.

"It's going to stop the heart, it stops my heart, it's like, oh, it's great," Musk told Recode.

Although Tesla can make an electric bike, he will not make an electric scooter, Musk said. According to Musk, some Tesla employees wanted the manufacturer to make an electric scooter, but he rejected their request.

"There were people in the studio who wanted to make a scooter, but I said to myself:" Uh, no, "said Musk.

"It lacks dignity," he added.
