Tesla's president, Elon Musk, announced Thursday via Twitter that an upcoming software update would allow Tesla owners to drive their cars with their phones in certain situations.
"The car will drive to the location of your phone and will track you as a pet if you hold down the Summoning button on the Tesla app," Musk m said.
"In addition, you can remotely control it from your phone like a big RC car if you're in the line of fire," he says. added.
Musk m said the update of Tesla's AutoPark feature, which allows vehicles to park with limited driver assistance, would arrive in about six weeks. The update will also give Tesla vehicles the ability to find and choose parking spaces without driver assistance, Musk said. Currently, the function identifies possible parking spaces that drivers can choose and then moves the vehicle to the chosen location.

Upcoming updates follow last week's introduction of a new autopilot feature called Autopilot Navigator that allows you to recommend lane changes, navigate between highways and outputs, with driver supervision. The autopilot can also keep a car in its lane and adjust its speed depending on the surrounding traffic, among other features.
In early October, Consumer Reports released its ranking of four semi-autonomous driver assistance systems. The publication ranked the autopilot second, behind the Cadillac Super Cruise. The autopilot received the highest rating in terms of capacity, performance and ease of use, but the lowest rating in terms of keeping drivers engaged.
