Embraer on Sunday launched mid-size and super-mid-size business aircraft that it plans to launch in 2019, completing what was already one of the widest queues on the market with aircraft that the company says will be the most long of their category.
The Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 are fully electric flights, a first for jets of this size, with active reduction of turbulence, as well as what the company describes as the best altitude in the cabin at 5,800 feet and at load highest useful. capacity. The Praetor 500 also claims to be the fastest medium-sized jet, with a maximum speed of 0.83 mach.
The Praetor 600 is Embraer's first offer on the lucrative super-medium segment, with an intercontinental range of 3,900 nautical miles with four passengers onboard, allowing it to fly non-stop from New York to London. It can be configured for eight to 12 passengers. The base price is $ 21 million.
There had been rumors that Embraer would develop a new super-medium, a fairly new category with cabs almost as big as big business jets but with less flying distance. It is one of the few parts of the business jet market where sales have weathered the post-crisis slump. "Price, cabin size, and performance, especially reach, are a big part of the market," said Ray Jaworowski, an analyst at Forecast International.
Last year, 86 super-medium aircraft were built, led by the Bombardier Challenger 350. Forecast International forecasts that the market will reach the first 100 devices per year by 2021.
The Praetor 600 will enter the contested airspace, along with the Gulfstream G280, Dassault Falcon 2000S and the future Cessna Longitude, which could enter service by the end of the year, in addition to the Challenger 350.
The Praetor 500 and 600 are derived from Embraer's Legacy 450 and 500 jet aircraft, with new winglets and additional fuel tanks for greater range.
The Praetor 500 will face less competition from the Cessna Citation Sovereign + and the very own Embraer, the Legacy 450, whose size and number of seats overlap.
There were 32 medium-sized aircraft built in 2017.
"There could be opportunities there," says Jaworowski. "It could be a relatively untapped market."
According to Embraer, the Praetor 500 will be the fastest aircraft in the category, with a continental range of 3,250 nautical miles, with four passengers and a maximum capacity of nine passengers. Base price: $ 17 million.
The Legacy 450 base has $ 16.57 million; the 500 for $ 20 million.
Embraer expects to obtain certification for the Praetor 600 in the second quarter of 2019 and the Praetor 500 in the third quarter.
"The introduction of these aircraft reinforces our vision of fascinating our customers and providing them with superior value and the best experience in the industry," said Michael Amalfitano, CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, in a statement.
Both aircraft are equipped with two Honeywell HTF 7500E turbojet engines coupled with a higher thrust version of the Praetor 600. The cockpit includes a Rockwell Collins ProLine Fusion avionics suite, an optional enhanced vision system with head-up display, etc. . Embraer indicates that it is the first vertical weather display in the industry. The aircraft will provide passengers with 16 Mbps connectivity thanks to ViaSat's Ka Band and IPTV, which Embraer says is an industry exclusive among mid-size business jets.
