Emmys 2018: Henry Winkler wins outstanding acting actor in comedy

Congratulations to Henry Winkler!

On Monday, the actor won the Emmy Award 2018 for the outstanding support actor in a humorous series. Winkler won his first Primetime Emmy – after three 70 Games nominations Happy Days, among other nods – for his role as acting theater teacher, Gene Cousineau, on the role of HBO Barry.

"Oh my God, oh my God," Winkler repeated at 72 when he was on stage.

Winkler, who has won two Golden Globe Awards in addition to his nominations for his role as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on Happy Days and has already won two Daytime Emmys, jokingly said that he had written his speech "43 years ago".

He says that he was told once that if you stay at the table long enough, the chips will come to you.

"Tonight, I have to clear the table," he said.

Winkler closed with a shout to his son, Max, and his daughter Zoe – shouting triumphantly, "You can go to bed now, Dad won!"

This year's category, presented by The crownClaire Foy and Matt Smith proved to be competitive, with seven actors from six different shows for one nomination.

For the second year in a row, Alec Baldwin (Saturday Night Live), Louie Anderson (Baskets), and Tituss Burgess (Kimmy Schmidt unbreakable) Have all received a nod for their work. The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost, are broadcast live from the NBC's Microsoft Theater on NBC.
