The 76ers left the Hornets a huge lead on Friday night, but Joel Embiid finally decided to save the match while Philadelphia won 133-132 in overtime.
Philly (8-5) seemed to be heading for an easy home win, with 21 midway through the third quarter, but the Hornets (6-6) rallied behind Kemba Walker. The 6-1 goalie finished with 30 points and, although he was not very effective in shooting the ball (9 out of 29 from the field, 3 out of 14 at long distance), he hit several big shots in the Right end to give the Hornets are ahead in regulation.
But as Walker led the Hornets to an incredible victory, Embiid took control of the offense. The 7-foot center scored 16 of its 42 points in the fourth quarter. He made six free-throw attempts in the last two minutes of regularization and undoubtedly hit the biggest hit of the game, a 28-foot 3-pointer with 34 seconds to tie the match at 117.
Embiid then scored five points in overtime, including the free throw that proved winner, to seal the win.

Embiid finished the night with a huge line of statistics, collecting 18 rebounds to complete her 42 points. He helped save the 76ers from what would have been an embarrassing and discouraging loss at home. Instead, Philadelphia is still unbeaten (7-0) at home. Ben Simmons contributed 22 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds.
The haras of the night
The Jazz was virtually impossible to stop offensively in a 123-115 win over the Celtics, hitting 56% of their shots. Joe Ingles led the way with 27 points, but Donovan Mitchell (21), Jae Crowder (20), Rudy Gobert and Ricky Rubio (17 points each) have all played in big games.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 39 points and 19 rebounds, but that was not enough as the Timberwolves lost 121-110 against the Kings.
Nikola Jokic's nugget center got 37 points and 21 rebounds in a 112-110 defeat against the Nets.
Pistons forward Stanley Johnson scored 22 points, seven rebounds and three flights in 24 minutes in a win against the Hawks.
Dud of the night
Nuggets goaltender Gary Harris hit only one of his 11 shots and made five fouls in Denver's loss to the Nets. Curious stat: Harris had a score of +6, the best of all Denver players in the game.
