Enfield police said she was investigating the murder of a high school student.

Justin Brady, 16, was fatally stabbed in front of a house on Hoover Street, said Chief Alaric Fox. The attack took place around midnight Sunday.

He did not live to the address, he said.

"There is an individual we are trying to locate to talk about," Fox said. He did not describe the person as a suspect.

Fox confirmed that Brady was a student at Enfield High School.

Christopher Drezek, Superintendent of Schools, said he learned in the middle of the night that one student had passed away. He set up a crisis team so that counselors would be available as students arrived at school.

The staff's main concern is that students have the resources they need, he said.

The school tweeted, "We are very sad to learn that an EHS student has passed away over the weekend. All students in need of support should report to the career center or cafeteria where additional counselors will be available for all students and staff.

A junior, Brady played football at school.

"He has always been there when you needed him and always supported you, no matter what," said a comrade who described Justin as a "great friend."

"I will miss him," added the student.

Police have asked anyone with information about the homicide to call them at 860-763-6400.

Mikaela Porter, editor of Courant, contributed to this report.
