LONDON – English defender Luke Shaw has eased his health concerns after undergoing long field treatment following a collision in a match against Spain on Saturday.
"Thank you for all the love and support I'm doing and I'm in good hands," an article from Shaw's Twitter account said after England's 2-1 loss to the league of nations UEFA. "I'm a fighter so I'll be back soon!"
England coach Gareth Southgate said it was "hard to say" if Shaw had lost consciousness at Wembley Stadium, but added that the left-back would continue to be evaluated by doctors overnight. .
"He's sitting in the locker room and looks pretty comfortable," Southgate said. "It was an uncomfortable crash and collision."
The incident occurred at the beginning of the second semester. Shaw connected with a header as he defied Dani Carvajal for the ball but collided with the Spanish defender, fell back and his head bounced off the ground. Shaw appeared to be wearing an oxygen mask because he was stabilized on a stretcher and was leaving the field.
Shaw made his first England start against Switzerland in September 2015, a week before his double break in a Champions League match as he was playing for Manchester United.
Shaw set Marcus Rashford's first game in the 11th minute but Spain scored twice in 20 minutes to secure the win.
