the Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Comic Con 2018 panel in New York brought together the stars of the 20th Dragon Ball movie at Madison Square Garden.
Masako Nozawa and Sean Schemmel, the voices of Goku, are present. The same is true of Chris Sabat (Vegeta, Piccolo), Ian Sinclair (Whis), Monica Rial (Bulma), Jason Douglas (Beerus) and Vic Mignogna (Broly). In her opening remarks, Masako Nozawa stated that she was "basically Goku" after all the years spent playing the character. The panel discussed how Dragon Ball The creator Akira Toriyama created the story of this film and was therefore more involved in this film than any other in the series. Nozawa said that she had learned that her voice inspired Toriyama.
"It's flattering to hear that when Toriyama hears my voice, he writes the fight from there," she said.
The panel noted how Toriyama's creations were refined as he grew older, while discussing how art director Kazuo Ogura drew Toriyama's art from manga to adapt to the animates. Animation director Naohiro Shintani does the same for this film. The film's recruitment process was vigorous because everyone involved wanted to make it as faithful as possible to Toriyama's art. Iyoku explained to the participants that they had done a long process to find the right people for the job.
So what can fans expect?
"My lips are sealed, I do not want to ruin it for anyone," Nozawa told the panel.
"I can say that we use Broly as the villain in this one," said Hayashida sarcastically. "But we can say that the fight scenes are first rate in this film."
Nozawa agrees. She said there were so many activities that she wondered if she would really have a job.
"I was in the studio and I had to ask myself if there was a dialogue because there were a lot of fighting scenes," she said.
Sean Schemmel, who provides Goku's voice on English dub, said his approach to the character has not changed. "It's the only constant in the universe. It's getting harder and harder to scream as I get older, but I have to keep up with my lungs, "he said.
"You have a problem?" Taquina Nozawa. "I am old and I have no problem."
Some discussions focused on Broly as a villain. Mainly, whether it is pure bad or not.
"He is misunderstood," said Mignonga (a big surprise because he expresses Broly after all). Nozawa confessed to seeing a potential in Broly saying, "It's a bad guy, but there may be a fraction of good."
the Dragon Ball Super: Broly The NYCC 2018 panel also featured the premiere of the English version of the film's second trailer. Some characters still do not have English actors, or at least actors shared with the audience. Gine, for example, does not have a confirmed actress for the English version.
As for the matches, the fans will see Goku against Broly, Vegeta against Broly and Frieza against Broly.
The last Dragon Ball The film will reintroduce the classic villain, Broly, as an official canon. The first two trailers already published show that its origins will be a little different, but there are still many things that are kept secret.
Broly's relationship with Goku and Vegeta, on the other hand, seems to be related to the takeover of Frieza on the planet Saiyan, Vegeta. The second trailer in particular shows Frieza when he takes control of Vegeta for the first time, and tells the story of Bardock and Goku's childhood. A lot Dragon Ball fans will recognize scenes from the special manga, Dragon Ball Minus, as the Broly The film will feature Goku's mother, Gine.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly must leave the United States on January 16th.
