Black Friday, at a Verizon store in National City, has turned into a terrifying ordeal for customers and employees when two masked gun-wielding men ordered everyone to get dressed up. back while they were filling their bags with stolen phones.
The robbery took place shortly after 11 am on a Verizon located at 3412 E. Boulevard, under the sergeant of the City Police Department (NCPD). Antonio Ybarra confirmed.
Witness Sam Abalos went to buy a phone at the store when, suddenly, two armed men entered.
"I went to Verizon on Black Friday to try to get a phone, and that's not what I expected," he said. "It was crazy."
Abalos said the suspects – who wore ski masks – were aggressive and told each client and employee to go to the back of the store.
"They said," Everyone in the back! And they pointed rifles at us, "said Abalos.
Once in the back room, Abalos said the suspects told everyone to kneel and put their faces to the ground. Abalos said the men did not want anyone to look at them.
With all the witnesses at the back, the suspects began to refuel the iPhone, according to Abalos. In addition to phones, Abalos said that one of the suspects had stolen a gold chain in the neck of a store employee.
Nobody was hurt in the flight but Abalos was naturally shaken.
"You do not prepare for this moment, you know?" He said.
The suspects fled the store before the arrival of the police.
Ybarra said the investigation was ongoing and that, for the moment, the police did not know if it was an isolated robbery or was part of a series of similar incidents.
