A "suspicious package" at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was deemed harmless after a Sunday morning investigation by a mine clearance team, officials said.
Atlanta police and firefighters were called to the scene of the international terminal to examine the package, said airport spokeswoman Elise Durham.
Around noon, the investigation was ending after the officials discovered that the package contained two flashlights and a weather radio, Durham said.
The police department's bomb unit was called to the scene, police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said in a statement.
She stated that the package was outside the terminal and that the airport operations were not affected.
Traffic at the international terminal was diverted to the departures level during the investigation.
About two hours later, the airport tweeted that traffic had returned to normal and that all car parks were operational.
The investigation comes just days after a Florida official sent explosive packages to more than a dozen critics of President Trump, according to a Florida official. During the past week, tensions were high, with buildings across the country locked and parcels located.
Traffic outside the airport was disrupted on Sunday morning.
