PITTSBURGH – Antonio Brown had a habit of solving his problems with the Steelers and he probably can not do it anymore, explained former teammates at ESPN.
Twenty former teammates were interviewed in the story, which discusses the slow pace of Brown's meetings, Mike Tomlin's varied responses to Brown's behavior, and how other Steelers viewed Brown.
Some contended, although many said explicitly that they liked Brown and that it was worth all that accompanied him.
The players also talked about Brown's relationship with Ben Roethlisberger. It is not the warm and fraternal image they represent when they say they are making fun of journalists who question their dynamics.
Brown did not participate in the Steelers' season finale. He complained of knee, ankle and foot pain on Wednesday, the first day of training this week, Tomlin said. The head coach also said Brown told him that he had knee pain on Thursday and Friday, before Brown missed out on an MRI ordered by the team, then ignored Tomlin until Sunday morning.
At that time, Tomlin said that Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had called Tomlin to tell him that Brown could play against the Bengals this afternoon. Tomlin told him that he could not, but that Brown should meet him at Heinz Field. Brown did it and stayed at the beginning to watch the match at Tomlin's request, although he was not seen on the sidelines after half-time.
The owner and team president, Art Rooney II, has repeatedly stated publicly that it is unlikely that Brown will return to the team in 2019.
