During the combat rounds, each coach will choose two artists from his team to perform together. After the faceoff, the coach will select the winning singer who will be able to move on to the next round of the competition. The other three coaches then have a chance to steal the "loser" act, but if the singer is not chosen, he or she will be sent home.

Cody Ray and SandyRedd of Team Kelly performed Solomon Burke's "Cry to Me" duet. After their performance, they both received rave reviews from the coaches.

"I'm excited because I can try to pick one of you," said Levine, while Hudson said the duo was "more than extraordinary."

But when the time comes to pick a winner, Clarkson said the decision was going to be tough. "I'm so ripped in. It's stressful, I need food, that's how I handle my emotions," Clarkson joked.

Clarkson compared Cody Ray to singer Chris Stapleton, claiming that his voice was "so sweet, it's beautiful." Clarkson also told SandyRedd that she was "literally one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life".

In the end, Clarkson made a surprising choice, choosing to keep Cody Ray on his team, instead of SandyRedd, the fan favorite. And the fans did not hesitate to tell Clarkson what they thought of his decision.

But viewers should not be too upset – after Clarkson let SandyRedd leave his team, the remaining coaches instantly press their buttons to try and steal it for themselves. In fact, Levine pressed his buttons two or three times with enthusiasm. In the end, SandyRedd chose to join the Jennifer team.
