Fans remember in the park, his first album is named

Nightfall Records, a recording brand based in Miller's hometown, is hosting a public wake at Frick Park, also known as Blue Slide Park.

"We would like to gather the city in full force for this legendary icon," the label announced on Facebook. "Mac deserves to be sent with an evening to celebrate his life, discuss his difficulties and remember his stories, especially for his iconic work that has brought joy into the lives of all those who love him. We are listening to you."

It's the fight and the way he tried to handle the problem – often in his music – that fans celebrate Tuesday night. Nearly 3,000 fans have confirmed that they will attend the event and hundreds of them have shown up to date, according to local radio station WYEP 91.3.

Before the memorial was sent off, the famous Blue Water Slide was reworked in honor of the late rapper. Pittsburgh Public Works has applied a new coat of paint and fans have laid flowers and candles in Miller's memory.

A Twitter user said that an improvised memorial at the top of the new slide was "so pretty for Mac".

The slide was one of many monuments set up to honor the Pittsburgh native. Hundreds of people gathered around an exhibition featuring Miller images, musical notes and candles.

A grieving person shared a photo on Facebook, adding: "Rest In Peace @macmiller I do not have many words at the moment Thank you for bringing the @nightfallrecordspgh city together for you to be here to participate in this tribute . "

Nightfall Records encouraged fans to be creative: "We welcome all artists to come and paint, create, draw, pay tribute to this event."
