IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Huskers have come forward to end a series of defeats. It will take another year, as Iowa has now won four straight wins over Nebraska.
Here are some excerpts from Iowa's win 31 to 28, Friday, at Kinnick Stadium, the second time Nebraska is in front of a field goal this year. The shots begin at the end of the game and work in reverse.

Kirk Ferentz lived by the sword and died by it.
He simulated an investment that gave life to the Huskers when they had little. This had the opposite effect. And he would have heard a lot of criticism if this fourth and eighth pass also failed.
I did not expect Iowa to conquer the Husker 37. If they miss the call, Martinez and his team are some complete accomplishments. a winning shot. In fact, I thought that Nate Stanley could well make it all the way to the slap. I wonder if Nebraska too is asleep. This ended up being an easy terrain and catch. Antonio Reed gave too much room to the play.
I think Ferentz thought that if he did not win, Nebraska had all the mojo that was heading to OT. His bet on a coin bore fruit bi.
I felt a little stripped of not being able to see Adrian Martinez and this attack is still a series in overtime.
They had corrected their mistakes and put together one of their best records of the season, considering the circumstances, at the end of the fourth quarter. You have seen Martinez bounce back after a big mistake and do it with his feet and his arm.
His melee throw at Kade Warner on the two-point conversion to tie him up, a throw against his body, was a thing of beauty. And Warner coming down was just as impressive. Warner will be important to this team in the next three years. He knows what he is doing and he is reliable.
I assumed we were going to see this attack take advantage on the ground, then Kirk went crazy and it worked.
It sounded terrible, then promising, then Adrian Martinez made a move that he probably knew to be a mistake from the start.
To say the least, the Huskers were 38 yards from a touchdown 10 minutes from the end of the game. They had Iowa a bit off. Then Martinez forced a throw where about three Hawkeyes were waiting. He never had the opportunity to end … except from the other side.
We saw how fast momentum can change from one side to the other on Friday. But Nebraska had gotten into such a hole that it had to be almost flawless in the fourth quarter. That was the big business figure that the Huskers simply could not afford.
The O-line of Iowa has just released its horns and shows the Huskers they need to become stronger in the trenches.
It should be remembered that this is a team from Hawkeye who entered the game at the 88th rank of countries that run the ball. But they just pushed the player back after the games. At the end of the third quarter, Iowa totaled 204 yards.
There were no plays played at home. They were just consistent pieces – the kind that relates to a team physically and emotionally. Honestly, it seemed like it could sometimes become something closer to last year. And then, football can surprise you.
Nebraska's special teams have certainly not helped the cause.
The half started with Maurice Washington claiming a good grip on the kick despite not being ready to catch him. So, Nebraska had the ball alone to start. A 3-and-out followed. Then Iowa scored a touchdown and the next kicking back from Nebraska came with a call on hold. Nebraska got the ball himself 12 for this order. Another 3-and-followed.
Kirk Ferentz did a small favor to the Huskers by pretending to score.
I start wanting to qualify for the jugular, but his team was a goal on the shot on goal starting from three goals in 28-13. The small shovel did not deceive Luke Gifford who stopped the Hawkeyes a few feet from the first.
He gave the Nebraska team that seemed deflated a little nudge.

One was the fake punt. Another came on a hotly contested race from Adrian Martinez. Then, on a fourth and second of The Iowa 39, Martinez found Morgan for an 11-yard game that seemed not to work eventually. But Morgan tore the hole with some determination.
And then Martinez found Maurice Washington on a 28-yard game after a game to make it a game to a score, which drew attention to the fact that Ferentz lets pass these three points.
Nebraska's defense and momentum were suddenly back in a game that seemed set to become a road in the third quarter.

FIRST HALF

Nebraska did not have a good answer for Iowa's stretchy game. Tyrin Ferguson's outside support would be free from the back but could not go back in time, because Hawkeye O-linemen had already cleared enough space for the back of Iowa to slip away for 5, 6, 7 yards.
The most demoralizing attack of the season for Nebraska's defense was the 15, 85-yard Hawkeyes for a touchdown that took over 7 minutes of the clock. By the time Mekhi Sargent landed a 15-yard touchdown, there was only 45 seconds left at the end of the halftime for the Nebraska attack.
The 4/4/3 conversion was great.
Nebraska had the chance to leave the field at the end of half-time and even eventually take the lead of the locker room. But Kirk Ferentz took fourth place on the 38th goal of Nebraska. Iowa quarterback, Nate Stanley, was passed too easily for conversion, finding Nick Easley for six yards. Suitably named. Because it was easy and good.
