In addition to counterfeit drugs for teens, the FDA has tested a flavor revealing traces of an illegal anti-obesity drug related to psychiatric health issues in its health care lineup. HelloCig has since cleared all traces of the spiked mixes from its website, but the so-called "healthy" product line is still online, with the exception of the flavors cited by the FDA in its warning.
As explained by FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb in a statement, the agency has not approved any type of electronic cigarette juice associated with prescription drugs – and that's not enough. "Vaping active drug ingredients is an inefficient and can be dangerous route of administration," Gottlieb said. "There are no e-liquids containing prescription drugs that have been proven safe or effective by this route."
