Diaspora remittances up 41.9% to net annual record of Sh255 billion

Kenyans abroad sent 215.6 million dollars (21.6 billion shillings) home in August, bringing the annual amount of funds sent by the diaspora to 2.5 billion dollars or 255 billion shillings.

The latest data from the Central Bank of Kenya show that average monthly inflows continued their upward trend, reaching $ 212 million (21.2 billion shillings) in the 12 months to August 2018, as against $ 150 million (15 billion shillings) over a similar period in 2017, or 41.3 percent growth.
