LOXAHATCHEE, FL – At Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee, there are also small dogs.
Including two black laboratory brothers and sisters named Hurricane and Michael who surrendered after their namesake tore Howard's Creek.
Matthew Schmitz and Jeff Boyd, two firefighters from Palm Beach County, fell on both puppies and an officer of sheriff's K-9 from Palm Beach County helped wash and wash the duo and sent them to the Palm Beaches.
"They were found up there, they were full of worms, fleas, emaciated and gone … all alone," said Lauree Simmons, president of Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue healed the dogs physically and mentally.
"And the two firefighters have now come to surprise their children by adopting these two puppies," says Lauree.
Firefighter Jeff Boyd announces the news to his daughters. "Go say hello to your puppies," Jeff said. "It's your puppy forever, love it, take it forever and forever … and make sure your university dorms except dogs. We need to protect our home from hurricanes! "
While the Boyds have Michael, the Schmitz has …
"What's she calling," asks Candy, Michael's wife.
"I have forgotten," says his son Caden.
"Hurricane," whispered Candy.
"Hurricane," Caden murmurs.
The inspiration for adopting dogs came from the time when Matthew adopted a black lab named Bo during Hurricane Katrina.
"So when I met another dog, it's a black lab that was saved from a hurricane, we felt compelled to find another dog," said Matthew
"Hurricane and Michael hit the jackpot, not only did these firefighters rescue them, but they also gave them wonderful homes forever," said Lauree.
"It makes me really happy," sobs Lauree.
The two firefighters being very close to each other, Hurricane and Michael will always be able to meet each other.
