OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio – Firefighters responded Thursday morning to a massive fire at a condominium complex in Olmsted Falls.

The fire broke out around 10:30 am on the 23000 block of Chandlers Lane, according to police in Olmsted Falls.

Teams from several departments were still fighting the fire around 12:30 pm, at which time the fire had spread to the three wings of the three-story apartment complex. There are 48 units in the building, said the fire department.

Officials make an inventory to account for all residents, said police from Olmsted Falls. Many residents came out safely and gathered in a grassy area where tents had been set up to provide shade while studying their next steps.

The first engine to arrive at the scene received water on the fire and searched inside the building, the Olmsted Falls Fire Department said. The department ordered all the crews to leave the building around 11.20am to protect them.

Two firefighters were slightly injured and were taken to the Southwest General Hospital, fire officials said.

Cleveland.com is on the scene and will update this story as new information becomes available.
