The First Alert meteorological center had a busy day. We are following another series of thunderstorms in our north tonight. These storms are moving south and now have an impact on Tennessee. High resolution prediction models indicate that most of this system will follow slightly westwards and weaken significantly. We will always look closely. The storms could arrive as early as 3 am for northwestern Alabama.

Friday morning should be mostly dry with some fog. Temperatures should reach the 90s in the afternoon. Rain and storms will develop again after lunch with the main threat of gusty winds, heavy rain and intense lightning. The rain and storms will continue throughout the weekend.

Weekend Forecast: Saturday will be hot with highs in the 90s with a chance for afternoon showers and storms. The chances of rain will be around 30 percent. We are planning more rain and storm coverage on Sunday and Monday. Expect the heaviest storms in the afternoon and early evening.
