For the first time, the Food and Drug Administration has approved a cannabis-based drug that will be available in all 50 states.

The FDA has approved Epidiolex, a drug based on cannibis. Epidiolex is an officially approved oral solution to treat people with two types of epileptic syndromes: Dravet syndrome, a rare genetic disorder of the brain appearing in the first year of life, and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a form Epilepsy usually observed between three and five years.

Doctors are also allowed to prescribe Epidiolex for other conditions.

The drug was recommended for approval in April and approved by the FDA in June.

In September, the DOJ and DEA listed this substance on the list of substances in Schedule V, eliminating the last obstacle to its legal prescription by US physicians.

It is approved for use in patients 2 years of age and older.

According to GW Pharmaceuticals, the average current price of Epidiolex is $ 32,500 a year and most insurance plans will cover the drug.
