CW has released its first look at Ruby Rose in Batwoman costume, the iconic superhero of DC Comics. Rose will debut as Kate Kane / Batwoman in the crossover of three shows between CW, "Arrow", "The Flash" and "Supergirl". Production begins Tuesday in Vancouver, reports ET.

Rose wears a black and red jumpsuit and a cape with a red bat badge on her chest. She also has long red hair on the picture. Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood was behind the meeting.

Rose's version of Batwoman will be different in that her iteration will be a lesbian. Finally, Rose will be the star of her own series "Batwoman", which should enter the airwaves of the television season 2019-2020. If the project ends in a series, Batwoman will be the first major gay character in a live superhero TV show.

Producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter and star Caroline Dries describe the character as complex: "Army of a passion for social justice and a talent for thought, Kate Kane hovers in the streets of Gotham under the name of Batwoman, a qualified lesbian and street fighter ready to quell the criminal resurgence of the failing city, but do not call her a hero yet In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must defeat her own demons before to go to the call of Gotham's symbol for hope. "

In August, Rose wrote online that she was happy that her character was openly talking about her sexual orientation, stating, "The bat is out of the bag and I am beyond enchanted and honored. an emotional wreck .. because it's a childhood dream, it's something that I would have died seeing on television when I was a young member of the LGBT community and I I've never felt represented on TV either alone or different. "

But soon after, Rose was criticized by trolls who said she was not "gay enough" because she had identified herself as being a "sex-fluid" "and that she was not Jewish (Kane is a Jewish character). Rose has therefore left Twitter.

The three-night crossover event with DC begins with "The Flash" on December 9 at 8pm. ET / PT, followed by "Arrow" on December 10 at 20h. ET / PT and "Supergirl" on December 11 at 8 pm ET / PT on the CW.
