The first images of the next Neil Marshall Hellboy remake made its NYCC debut this afternoon and left the audience stunned. We've talked a lot about the remake and how it's going to be comparable to what Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro did in 2004 and 2008 with the original films. However, it appears that some of these discussions were silenced after David Harbor, creator Mike Mignola, and some cast members presented the NYCC's exclusive two-minute film.
The lucky participants at the NYCC were very pleased with what they saw from the Hellboy redo this afternoon. The end showed the central figure with a burning wreath and sword, which led the crowd to stand up. Elsewhere, the fast-paced reel was full of action and presents David Harbor's take on the film Hellboy character as a humorous, violent and spiritual hero. He is also a little impatient with everyone around him in the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, which is good because they do not seem very happy to work with him either.
The preview opens on a warning regarding the impending "war forever", which automatically sets the tone for this very different restart. We see David Harbor as Hellboy get out of a police van. He is almost instantly shot by a cop. The ball hits his arm. Hellboy lets out his grumpy signature, "Hey, I'm on your side!" This shows the dark and funny balance of the film. It will not be taken too seriously.
When we see for the first time Hellboy at the secret headquarters of the BPRD, he is asked for his identity card and the sneaky side of Hellboy continues to show himself. Frustrated, he asks: "Are you serious?" Judging by what has been shown at NYCC, this new interpretation of the iconic cartoon character looks like a mixture of original story that starts somewhere in the middle of our hero's saga. Someone asks about his right arm of doom: "Does that make anything special? Hellboy replies: "Yes, that crushes really well."
The trailer ends, warning the public that this big red beast is "the best and the only hope of humanity". This is where the emblematic crown and sword in flames come into teasing. HellboyThe real name, "Anung One Rama." This translates to "And on his forehead, a crown of flames".
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and David Harbor led the NYCC panel and gave a more detailed overview of the remake. Director Neil Marshall, who was not present for the panel, is best known for his role as a horror director. The cast, as well as Mignola, agree that he brought a different feel to the film, giving it a comic atmosphere. Harbor says she has the feeling of Mignola this time, as opposed to Guillermo del Toro, who was one of the critics of the first two films.
Mike Mignola said that he was very happy to participate in the discussions on the following because he was so happy with the way the Hellboy remake has arrived. Mignola recently revealed that he had never seen his creation come to life the way Neil Marshall had obtained it, stating that some of his creations seemed to come directly from comic book sources. Milla Jovovich, who portrays Nimue the Queen of Blood, could not be at the NYCC, but instead sent a video message, coming from South Africa, where she began to spin Monster Hunter. She says this about the movie.
