For the second year in a row, WWE has brought back the old brand Starrcade for a special occasional event.
The WWE Starrcade 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio, marks the 20th wrestling show in history to bring the famous brand.
But for fans of the old school, the current incarnation is nothing compared to what Starrcade had been at its peak.
Of course, some will still associate the name Starrcade with World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
But the tradition that began on November 24, 1983 at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina was originally part of Jim Crockett Promotions.
NWA Starrcade has been for five consecutive years a super annual show that has competed with WWE's flagship event, WrestleMania.
Keeping in mind, here are six reasons to go back and look at these five original Starrcades.
1. The comment is phenomenal
Bob Caudle and Gordon Solie, a member of the WWE Hall of Famer, are at the microphone and they have something special. No delirious cries: "You make fun of me!" And no noises of sympathy every time there is a blow in the ring, Bob and Gordon are calm, measured and wonderfully detailed in their analysis of the action. Completely different from the modern game by game commentators who let their emotions take control, these men focus on the movements, tactics and science of the fight. Oh, and they pronounce the word suplex as "supleé". Brilliant.

2. It's more legitimate
Rather than creating a comic-type WWE universe where logic can and will be sacrificed on behalf of the show or a big pop, NWA Starrcades does exactly the opposite. These events are presented as legitimate sports competitions between professional wrestlers who seek above all to win, rather than demonstrate their athleticism. As a result, the action on the ring is more natural, more down to earth and therefore a treat to watch. These five "à la carte" shows are a welcome break from the peak of today's heavy and often repetitive matches.
3. It can be brutal
The presentation in the real world has real consequences. It means blood and brutality. Just like a boxing fight or UFC, battles on these super cards can be violent and shocking. But it's not like a hardcore affair from ECW or a modern TLC. There are more hard fists than weapons, and where there are, they are cheap and practical. This makes it even more odious and certainly more shocking to watch.
Forget the steel chair shots bent at the back, the wrestlers of these shows will remove a piece of wood torn by a splinter and will try to gauge someone's eye for a bid victory.

4. The crowd is so much in
The most satisfying wrestling matches are often those where fans are ridiculously up to scratch. Just watch the iconic Hart Foundation match on In Your House Canadian Stampede '97 or Rock Vs Hogan on Wrestlemania X8. In the case of these classic extravaganzas of Starrcade, the crowds are extremely passionate, making it a maximum drama.
Fans are not only rude, they are so different from today 's. Forget the cries of "smart" fans of "you deserve it" or dueling chants of divided allegiance, these wrestling lovers are wrapped in sheer hate for heels and pure love for babies. Cheers, scandals and solitary cries of abuse, some fighters of these Starrcades needed security to protect them when they walked in the driveway. Ah, the good old days.

5. You'll see Ric Flair at its peak
Fans of all ages will agree that the son of a rifle is a legend and an icon. But you have not seen Ric's best work before watching these five Starrcades.
