Fivethirtyeight.com, which uses statistical analysis to project the results, says the numbers are favoring the Kansas City Chiefs this season.
The Chiefs are the top-rated team on the AFC West website and the third-best AFC team behind the Patriots and Steelers.
In a simulated season, fivethirtyeight.com plans 9.5 wins and 6.5 losses for the Chiefs, giving them a 58% chance of making the playoffs and a 41% chance of winning their third consecutive division title .
The Chargers, who welcome the Chiefs on Sunday in the opening game of the season, are the second choice, with nine wins, seven losses, 51% playoffs and a 33% division chance.
Oakland is third (7.3, 8.7, 26%, 14%) and Denver is fourth (7.0, 9.0, 23%, 12%).
The Patriots and Eagles, the Super Bowl teams of last season, are the two best favorites.
