French authorities evacuated 141 passengers and crew members from a flight arriving from Algeria Wednesday in the French city of Perpignan.
The eight-year-old was taken to the hospital for tests after suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, said a fire chief.
A police source said the mother of the child and several passengers sitting near them were also hospitalized.
Another child stayed on board with another person, the authorities said.
The remaining passengers and crew were kept on the tarmac before being transported to a decontamination facility for testing, authorities said.
Last month, Algeria experienced its first cholera outbreak in 22 years, with two fatal cases. About 50 people have been infected and are being treated in Boufarik, 30 kilometers east of the capital, health authorities told the Algerian media.
The source of the outbreak has been attributed to bacteria from the Beni Azza River in Blida province, officials said. Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika fired Monday the governor of Blida for failing to manage the epidemic.
The Algerian authorities have stated that the disease is under control, as no new cases have been recorded in the last three days.
