JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – A Florida gas station owner has placed a sign in his store asking customers not to heat the urine in the microwave.
Parul Patel says that he became "sick and tired" of people who went to his BP gas station and the On The Fly convenience store in Jacksonville to warm up their urine containers. The store is within walking distance of two labs, although one says it does not collect samples for drug testing.
Patel told First Coast News that people are "walking on the street, microwaving their urine containers and then leaving".
Warming the urine of a person who has not used drugs is considered by some as a way to help pass a drug test.
Patal says that a woman became aggressive a few months ago when he asked her not to warm up her urine. She asked to see a sign indicating that it was not for this purpose. So he made one.
