Floyd Mayweather Jr. has stated that a rematch of his highly publicized 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao will take place this year.

Mayweather posted on Instagram on Saturday, saying, "I'm coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year, another payday of 9 extras is on the way."

Mayweather earned about $ 220 million in his May 2015 fight with Pacquiao and at the time released a photo of a $ 100 million check – his guaranteed stock market.

The Saturday posting on Instagram includes a video of Mayweather and Pacquiao speaking at an event, although it is difficult to hear what the men say. Mayweather did not include details about the match potential in the post.

Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), 41, won a unanimous decision over Pacquiao in his first fight. He has won two victories since: a win over Andre Berto in 2015 and his knockouts in August 2017 against Conor McGregor in the boxing debut of the UFC star. Mayweather said after McGregor's fight that "it was my last fight".

Pacquiao (60-7-2), 39, fought for the last time in July, beating Lucas Matthysse to win a secondary title. The Filipino fighter called Mayweather after the win.
