It was a great week for Tiger Woods.

On Tuesday, Jim Furyk named him captain for the US Ryder Cup team and on Thursday, he's in the first round of the BMW Championship, the penultimate round of the FedExCup playoffs.

Tiger enters the week at # 25 FedExCup and needs a strong week to stay in the top 30 to qualify for the Tour Championship in two weeks, the final round of the PGA Tour season.

Tiger takes off at 11:30 ET with Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth. Follow his opening turn on a piecemeal basis.

Hole 17 – By 3

Tiger is alone in the lead and finds the green safe here. Nothing fancy.

Hole 16 – By 5

Great Tiger Road on the right side of the fairway. Tiger lowered it and for good, no, a good reason. He is on the green in two and starts to eagle after his approach shot nestled within 10 feet of the cut. Too easy. Tiger drops the putt and goes on to 5 under to 7.

Hole 15 – By 4

Tiger's course misses the fairway and finds the good rough. His approaches have been excellent all day and this one is no different. It is high, about 20 feet to the right of the hole. Not much to see here. Two putt by. 3 under to 6.

Hole 14 – By 3

Number 14 plays 214 yards today and Tiger's tee shot finds the green, low and left of the hole. He still has a long way to go, so most likely a two-shot pair here. It is 40 feet on this one, with a big movement from left to right, followed by another left turn. An interesting game because Tiger has just left this place. This one goes past the cup a few meters from the left and stops about four feet behind the cup. It's a tricky bet for Tiger, but he does it easily. 3-under to 5.

Hole 13 – By 4

Iron here for Tiger and it's on the right side of the fairway. Tiger looks very confident and composed today. This could be a very fun ride. Oh wow. It's his best shot of the day so far. His approach lands within five feet of the cup and stops quickly. He rolls in the putt for birdies back to back, three in four holes. 3 under 4.

Update of the ranking: Tiger is tied at the beginning with Byeong Hun An at 3-under, followed by a crowd of others at 2-under.

Hole 12 – By 4

Another driver for TW and this one is in the middle of the fairway. Useful. Another solid Tiger approach is that it lands about 10 feet from the hole and does not move much. It will be inside 15 feet for a third look at the birdie in as many holes. This 13-foot putt is fairly straight with a slight movement to the right. Boom. The Scotty Cameron is on fire early! 2 under 3.

Hole 11 – By 4

Tiger was talking to the guy next to the club and he left. Not good, but not too bad. Tiger climbs his approach on the green for a little more than 100 meters and again, he is close, but this time, he is right of the hole, maybe a few meters more than on the 10. He does not Did not do it. give him enough juice and he misses a little bottom and left. Easy by. 1-to-2.

Hole 10 – By 4

And we left. Tiger shoots the pilot on his first hole and he crushes it in the driveway. It's a solid swing, but the ball just falls in the first rough cut. The approach of Tiger safely finds the green, a little under the pin-high left. Tiger is just under 20 feet for the birdie, and using his old Scotty Cameron putter, he sinks the putt. 1 under 1.
