FOLLOW UP: More rain and thunderstorms, some strong later today

The day will be hot and humid in eastern Iowa, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. There will be dry periods from time to time. Heavy rainfall is possible locally. The highs will be in the 70s in the north, up to 80 degrees in the south.

A stationary boundary to the west, trace toward the east is a cold front and offers the possibility of severe weather later this afternoon. Adverse winds and heavy rains are the main threats, but we will keep an eye on the potential for some tornadoes and small hail. The violent weather will be from 17h to 22h.

Showers and thunderstorms persist in the morning of Wednesday, but should end by the afternoon. High temperatures will be reached early in the day, with temperatures dropping in the afternoon. The winds will blow between 10 and 20 mph.

Much cooler temperatures are expected Thursday and Friday, with possible frost zones.
