Ford, Lincoln SUVs recalled for second-row seat problem

Ford recalls around 38,000 sport utility vehicles Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator 2018 due to a faulty seat in the second row.

There may be a lack of reinforcement support for the second-row seat, the builder said. If the bracket is missing, the seat may not be properly restrained in the event of a collision, which could increase the risk of injury. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.

Owners of affected vehicles must move the seat as far back as possible from the front of the vehicle until a repair is made, Ford said.

The details

Vehicles recalled:

• Some 2018 Ford Expedition SUVs built at the Ford Truck Plant in Kentucky between March 14, 2017 and August 18, 2018
• Some 2018 Lincoln Navigator SUVs built at Ford's Kentucky truck plant between March 31, 2017 and August 18, 2018

The problem: A bracket used to reinforce the second-row bench seat may be missing.

The fix: Dealers will inspect the seats to see if the brackets have been installed. If one of the supports is missing, or both, the dealers will replace the headquarter frame at no cost to the customer.
