A disturbed climate zone near Honduras is likely to become a tropical depression in the central Gulf of Mexico by Sunday or Monday, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said.
If it is formed as expected, the weather could rain over southern Florida and have a direct impact somewhere on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico, including the Panhandle.
On Saturday, at 8 am, forecasters said the system was producing rainy weather from Central America to Hispaniola in the western Caribbean.
According to forecasters at the hurricane center, the system does not yet have a well-defined circulation, added: "Environmental conditions should become progressively more conducive to further development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm should form. on the northwest of the Caribbean Sea or the southern Gulf of Mexico on Sunday or Monday, as the system slowly moves north. "
Those of the Yucatan Peninsula, western Cuba and the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico should monitor the evolution of this system over the next few days, said the hurricane monitoring center.
Forecasters also said that even if a cyclone does not form, the disruption would result in "torrential rains mainly in parts of Central America, and these rains should then spread to the west. from Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula over the next few days. "
According to forecasters, the system has a 90% chance of moving into a cyclone over the next five days.
