Forest fire on Walnut Creek, Concord Burns border 368 acres

COUNTY COUNTER COSTA, CA – A fire of grasses at Lime Ridge Open Space at Ygnacio Valley Road in Contra Costa County burned 368 acres Friday, reports CalFire. He burned all the way up to Crystyl Ranch Drive, where he was arrested. The entire Crystyl Ranch housing estate was evacuated as a precaution, as were the Montecito homes. However, no homes were lost and no injuries were reported.

At 2210, the Concord Police Service announced that all evacuation orders had been lifted and that all roads had been reopened

. Montecito Drive and successfully defended the houses. Mutual aid was requested and firefighters from several agencies battled the flames. CalFire provided air support with several tankers and helicopters fighting the flames in the air. CalFire also brought bulldozers.

The residents of the neighborhoods that were saved praised the firefighters.

The two residents and a fire department spokesperson rented the Montecito district for a fire break, providing a defensible space for firefighters.

An evacuation center was installed at the Concord Center, a community center located at 5298 Clayton Rd, Concord, 94521. The Red Cross was on hand to provide snacks and water
